Walk & Talk Therapy

Moving Beyond the Traditional Office

Therapy doesn’t always have to happen within four walls. For many, sitting across from a therapist in a traditional office can feel intense or even rigid. Walk & Talk Therapy offers an alternative: we take our session outdoors, incorporating gentle movement into our evidence-based relational work.

Why Bella loves Walk & Talk:

These sessions are designed to be intentional way to engage the body and mind simultaneously. Here are just a few of the things incorporating movement can help us achieve in a session:

  • Bilateral Stimulation: The rhythmic nature of walking provides natural bilateral stimulation, which can help the brain process emotions and “stuck” difficult thoughts.
  • Reducing Intensity: For those who find sustained eye contact overwhelming, walking side-by-side can allow for more organic, vulnerable sharing.
  • Sunlight & Serotonin: Safe exposure to natural sunlight helps regulate your circadian rhythm and boosts the production of serotonin. This is one of the brain’s primary “happy chemicals” responsible for mood stabilization and focus. This can be especially helpful for those navigating the seasonal shifts or the “fog” of a desk-heavy workday.

Frequently Asked Questions about Walk & Talk sessions:

Maintaining professional and ethical standards of confidentiality is my priority. While we are in a public space, we remain mindful of our surroundings. I have a specific informed consent form that we will review together, covering how we manage privacy, run-ins with people you may know, and the boundaries of therapy in a shared outdoor space.

We can either pivot to an office session, a telehealth appointment, or reschedule if the weather becomes a concern. There would be no cost to reschedule. Your comfort is the priority. If it’s extremely hot or there’s a chance of snow/rain and you’d rather be inside, we will do that.

To help manage the Colorado sun, my Walk & Talk slots are intentionally scheduled for early mornings before the summer heat peaks.

Denver parks can get busy, so I’ve carefully selected locations and times that offer the most privacy and calm. I primarily offer these sessions on weekday mornings when public spaces are less crowded.

We typically meet at accessible public spaces like City Park or the Stapleton Greenway Trail. During our first session, we will decide on a meeting point that feels convenient and comfortable for you.

Through attunement and commitment to safety, Bella is always mindful of the emotional “temperature” of a session. If we find ourselves moving into intense trauma work that requires a more controlled, private environment, she will likely suggest a transition back to the office for our next meeting. We work together to ensure you always feel grounded and safe.

Absolutely. You are in charge of your therapeutic experience. If you decide at any point to switch back to the office setting, Bella will honor that shift immediately.
